Mango Deck, one of the city's most notorious nightlife destinations, is just around the corner, while the touristy marina will take five minutes to reach on foot. Squid Roe, another infamous nightclub, is about 10 minutes away in an area packed with bars, cheap taco joints, and touristy shops. For a taste of more authentic street food, head to Calle Jose Maria Morelos, where vendors sling everything from churros to tres leches cake amid local shops and restaurants. It's a 45-minute drive to the quaint town of San Jose del Cabo, which has a happening arts scene and lots of quaint cafes and boutiques.

The 81-room Bahia Hotel isn't directly on the beach, but it's just a block away and makes a fine three-pearl pick near all of Cabo San Lucas' party hotspots. Although some rooms are a bit dated, many have a sharp look, with plenty of extra seating and modern amenities. Unfortunately there are fees for spotty Wi-Fi and restaurant noise can be an issue in some rooms. There's a nice coffee shop on-site, and the pool and hot tub stay bumping throughout the day.

The airport is outside of San Jose, a 40-minute drive from the hotel. The hotel's restaurant -- Bar Esquina -- is a major highlight. Decor is modern and the distinct spaces include a sharp bar, an open kitchen, and a spacious outdoor terrace. Live music accompanies the meals in the evenings, and there's an impressive cocktail menu. Food draws on international inspirations, with foodie-worthy pizzas and curries on the menu during our visit. There's also a coffee shop that opens early and serves great baked goods and excellent espresso and drip coffees.

Or you can take your meal at a table, on the terrace or in our open-air dining room – civilized, but not too civilized. If you don’t feel like wearing shoes – or can’t find them – it’s no bother. The rooms here are a bit of a mixed bag, and it's worth the upgrade to the hotel's Deluxe and Designer Rooms to guarantee more modern decor. Older rooms have stucco details like seashells built into the walls over the beds, and while the look is retro, things are well kept and clean.
The hotel's front desk can also help with concierge services, including arranging stand-up paddleboarding off of Medano Beach. And the staff was very welcoming and we had a great stay. Our in-house Sommelier and mixologist, Nizuniro - or you can call him Nizu - has built a beverage offering that perfectly complements Chef Andres’ dishes. With seasonal handcrafted cocktails, craft beer and wine options from across Mexico and around the world, every plate has a perfect pairing. Medano Beach is widely considered to be Cabo’s best beach, and for good reason – it’s the only swimmable stretch of beach in Cabo San Lucas. Unlike the tumultuous Pacific on the other side of Land’s End, on Medano Beach the tranquil Sea of Cortez laps gently at the shore.

The area provides some of the best fishing and boating opportunities. Back on-site, the pool is busy all day long and is ringed by lounge chairs. The adjacent hot tub sits next to the swim-up and walk-up bar, which also serves food. Pop and dance music play at upbeat, but not deafening levels throughout the day. SUR is part of the Bahia Hotel, a boutique hotel just a 30-second golf cart ride or 3-minute stroll away.
Wi-Fi is available, but it costs extra and we occasionally had trouble connecting on our visit. Bathrooms have walk-in rainfall showers and separate vanity areas, though the lighting can be a bit dark. SUR is a spectacular spot for celebrations big and small. We offer various options, including buyout packages, throughout our event spaces, which include the beachfront, terrace, open air restaurant, and upstairs palapa.

Stand-up paddle-boarding is our passion and our specialty – we rent boards, and guide tours out to the Cabo’s iconic Arch – but we’re much more than SUP. We continue to adapt to these ever-changing times & have created 'New Spaces' to accommodate for social distancing while also creating a more elevated intimate experience.
